This year we tossed around lots of ideas about what we would do for the card. The last couple of years have been over the top so this year we had a lot to live up to. I wanted to a manger scene with a unicorn, but my idea got vetoed. Unicorns, btw, can be rented for about $125/hour. After much thought we decided to take pictures at the Long Center Park. I LOVE the way the photos turned out this year. They are not as conceptual as years, but they seem to have captured the spirt of these children.

That looks like fun! No way my mom would have let me play in the fountain with my patten leather shoes! Mrs. O you truly are the coolest. Thanks for letting me photograph your kids.

Oh. We had fun this year! This is my third year in a row to photograph the R families holiday cards. Year 1
the girls are so small! Year 2 we did some wonderful photos at the Capital and this year we got together at Mayfield. Random aside I love these photos and these photos also of the R family.

This is one of my favorite photos from this year! Even better than this photo are the two photos in the series before and the one after.

“Can Sheepy be in the photo?” Sure, but not all the photos. So much for that idea. Sheepie and the Pandas managed to be in about half the photos. I’ve photographed the C family at Mayfield Park before. This session was even more fun than the one before. We spent most of the time doing the chicken dance and chasing pea fowl.

Photographing the photographer is no easy task. When Matt Lankes asked me to photograph his wedding a few months ago I said yes immediately and then kicked myself for not thinking about how much pressure it would involve. Matt is an amazing portrait photographer and regularly shoots for Texas Monthly
, The New York Times and many many many more publications. The wedding was extremely pretty and the weather was PERFECT! Which is a blessing on December 20. The guest list was a Who’s Who of photographers including Michael O’Brien, Wyatt McSpadden, Rick Patrick, David Omer, and Chris Conroy to name just a few. Oh and the cameras. I saw 2 of the new Canon 5d Mark II, 1 Canon G10, 2 Canon 1ds Mark III, 1 Nikon D3, 2 plastic Dianas , and a Polaroid Land Camera. I usually try not to have other cameras in my photos, but I just decided to embrase it at this wedding. Thanks to Negeen Sanii for assisting me at this wedding.

My photo assistants seem to be getting younger every day.

I love my husband! For my birthday he purchased this amazing Randall Ford
print for my office. Randall Ford currently is, very generously, selling a selection of his photographs with the proceeds going to the Seton Fund . I’m very excited to have this print in my collection. When I first saw this photo in a Tribeza Una pistola per Ringo video spread ages ago and I clipped it out and put it in my inspiration folder. It is so fun to have the real photo! Random aside, Evan Prince
, who assists for me from time to time now frequently assists for Randal. Oh… the two degrees of separation in the photo world.
