I’ve been photographing the Austonian project since the ground breaking so this party was a wonderful time to celebrate with the friends I’ve made working on this project. The party spanned 4 floors - the lobby and floors 54,55, and 56. Each floor had a unique theme. This was a VERY well put together event and guests were wowed by attention to details. It was fun to watch people interacting with the spaces and moving between the different floors. I’d like to thank Johanna, Cile and Eric for making these photos possible.

The High Ball is the new Bowling Alley/Karioke Bar next to the Alamo South Lamar. The place is finally (almost) done! It looks amazing! The vintage bowling lanes are from the Rock N Bowl in New Orleans. There is a great story about the High Ball in the Chronicle by Marc Savlov. The party last night was to celebrate the Kick Off of Fantastic Fest and the Director of Gentlemen Broncos Jared Hess was on hand for the celebrations. My photos of Hess are only medium good because he was surrounded by drooling fans and my pappartzi elbows were off duty. Co-founder (I think) of the festival Harry Knowles from Aint it Cool News was also at the party looking sharp and having fun. There are many more photos from the party on HERE on flickr.

Construction - Balfour Beatty
This day has been a long time coming! The Austonian project broke ground two years ago (yesterday). To mark the completion of the outside of the building the final piller was put in place. I’ve been photographing this project since last July when the 10th floor was completed. I’ve been very impressed with Balfour Beatty’s attention to safety, and I really like Zigler Cooper’s desgin.

Remember Office Space? Mike Judges movie from 10 years ago. It was just “re-realeased” on Bluray for the 10th Anniversary. To celebrate the Alamo hosted a showing at the Paramount. Many of the stars were present including…
Mike Judge (Director, Stan–Chotchkie’s manager)
Stephen Root (Milton)
Gary Cole (Bill Lumbergh)
John C. McGinley (Bob Slydell)
David Herman (Michael Bolten)
Ajay Naidu (Samir Nagheenanajar)
Paul Willson (Bob Porter)
Todd Duffey (Brian, Chotchskie’s waiter with the most flair!)
The after party (with Karioke) was at the Alagator Grill - where scenes of the movie were filmed. Overall the event was really fun. It has been ages since I’ve seen Office Space and it was fun to see it on the big screen. I’m a huge Mike Judge fan so it was great to listen to him during the QandA. My only complaint was that John McGinley was a jerk. Which is a huge disappointment because I think he is pretty funny in Scrubs. I’m NOT a papparizzi, and I was being really nice so he had no reason to be so lame! The only photo that was officially requested at the after party was one of the cast in front of the Aligator Grill sign. I asked McGinley (very nicely - twice) to take a small step back so two other co-stars would be in the frame. He wasn’t listening, so I gently put my hand on his shoulder and asked him again. His responce was to say “DON’T TOUCH ME” and storm out of the photo. Lame. I have a very low tollerence for such Hollywood nonsence. I’m glad I’m not in the news business anymore. For the record I’d take brides over movie stars ANY DAY!
